Eye on BNPL: Affirm’s Toothy Win; Gateway Adds Klarna Integration

Coast Dental, a dental practice with 100 locations in Florida, Georgia, and Texas, added Affirm’s buy now, pay later payment options. In related news, Decta Ltd., a United Kingdom-based fintech, has integrated Klarna AB’s BNPL service into its white-label payment gateway.

Tampa, Fla.-based Coast Dental says the Affirm payment option includes its biweekly and monthly payment plans. Patients complete the Affirm application by scanning a QR code with a smart phone and completing the eligibility check. If approved, payment plans are provided, and they may be charged interest.

Affirm says this win comes amid its growth into health care, noting the number of active health-care providers in its network has grown 90% year-over-year. Some of them are GoodRx, RepeatMD, and Veterinary Emergency Group.

In related news, Decta says the integration of Klarna into its gateway means merchants will be able to offer Klarna’s BNPL options with no additional integrations.

For merchants, the Klarna option could help them reduce cart abandonment and increase sales, Decta says. Decta’s white-label payment gateway also handles payments with the card networks, digital wallets including Apple Pay and PayPal, and alternative payment methods, such as WeChat, Alipay, and American Express.

In addition to tracking credit and debit payments in real time, the gateway also enables merchants to create invoices, offer and manage subscription payments, and produce analytical reports.
