Eye on E-Commerce: DoorDash Launches In-App Gift Card Shopping; Noodles’ First E-Commerce Store

Delivery-services provider DoorDash is bringing in-app gift card shopping to its app. Launching Friday, the new service relies on gift card specialist InComm Payments.

Announced Monday, the service creates a digital gift card mall in the app, Incomm says. Consumers will be able to order physical gift cards from participating retailers in DashMart, a DoorDash fulfillment platform and store. Some retailers in DashMart include Chipotle, Ulta Beauty, and Nordstrom.

InComm will manage the supply of gift cards to DashMart locations that will make it easier for DoorDash drivers to pick up orders for delivery. To promote the gift card availability, DoorDash is offering a 10% discount on select gift cards for members of its DashPass loyalty program. Non-DashPass members will be eligible for a 5% discount beginning Dec. 6.

This is the latest InComm-related gift card integration. In October, HallmarkCards Inc. launched a line of greeting cards with digital gift cards inside the cards using InComm technology.

In a first for Noodles & Co., the Broomfield, Colo.-based restaurant chain with more than 450 locations launched its e-commerce store. It offers exclusive Noodles merchandise, such as apparel and toys.
