Eye on Point of Sale: Elo’s New Display; FreedomPay’s Verifone Partnership; Blaze’s Sage Integration

Point-of-sale systems makers are already putting 2025 to work, with multiple announcements from vendors.

First, Elo Touch Solutions Inc. launched a 10-inch point-of-sale system for retailers and restaurateurs. The Elo Pay 10” is built on the Android operating system. In addition to contact and contactless payment acceptance, the device has a 180-degree swivel function to enable easier merchant- and customer-facing interactions.

Milpatas, Calif.-based Elo launched Elo Pay in 2024. In addition to payment acceptance, the technology includes encryption, tokenization, and terminal-management tools.

The Elo Pay 10” is the latest piece in the Elo Pay suite of products, which was announced in 2024.

In related news, VeriFone Inc. says it and Philadelphia-based FreedomPay completed an integration of their respective systems. FreedomPay merchants can now use VeriFone POS terminals that rely on FreedomPay’s Next Level Commerce platform, ranging from mobile, multilane, unattended, and portables to SoftPOS.

San Jose, Calif.-based VeriFone says its devices will soon be certified on FreedomPay’s platform and will be available in an acquirer-agnostic format.

Also, Blaze Solutions Inc. says its Blaze cannabis software platform completed an integration with Sage Group plc, an accounting-software provider, that enables cannabis retailers to complete daily accounting tasks using store-level financial data.

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Blaze says the integration enables tasks such as converting completed purchased orders into vendor bills and automatically adding new vendors to a retailer’s system.

The combo can also provide location-based data and reporting tools to help meet regulatory requirements. Blaze most recently completed an integration with Metrc, which provides regulatory technology for retail cannabis merchants.
