Eye on Point of Sale: Paris Baguette Enlists Olo for Online Ordering; Elo Debuts 22-Inch Kiosk

As bakery chain Paris Baguette refreshes its rewards program and its mobile app, its online-ordering process has also been updated with help from Olo Inc. In related news, Elo Touch Solutions Inc. releases a 22-inch contactless payment-enabled device.

Moonachie, N.J.-based Paris Baguette, which has 160 U.S. locations, according to its franchise Web site, says updates to its app include the ability to place orders, store gift cards, and view and manage a customer’s rewards account.

The chain, which opened its first U.S. store in 2005 and currently has 173 U.S. locations, is aiming for 1,000 U.S. locations by 2030. Paris Baguette says its partnership with Olo, a restaurant-technology platform, improved its online-ordering capabilities. Paris Baguette’s revision to its rewards program, known as PB Rewards, includes new rewards and redemption levels.

Olo late last year lined up Waffle House and its nearly 2,000 locations for online ordering.

In related point-of-sale news, Elo, a Knoxville, Tenn.-based POS technology maker, says its new Elo Pay 22” Tap to Pay system uses the large screen to display ordering menus, with a near-field communication portion at the chin of the display to enable contactless-payment acceptance.

Elo says the new device can be used as part of a self-service kiosk using various mounts. Cameras, status lights, and other peripheral devices can be attached to it. The device uses an Android operating system.

Elo says it is suited to multiple merchant needs, such as ordering, ticketing, and check-in. The device also is configured to work with soft POS applications.
