Point-of-sale technology company MagTek Inc. has lined up payments provider ExpiTrans as a reseller of its QwickPAY POS software. Meanwhile, Visa Inc. says its technology is ready for the start of the summer Olympics in Paris in two weeks.
Seal Beach, Calif.-based MagTek says ExpiTrans will market its software to small and mid-size retail merchants. QwickPAY is a POS application for Android, iOS, and Windows that includes encryption, card and device authentication, counterfeit card detection, and tokenization services.
QwickPAY can accept payments in store, on mobile POS devices, on telephone orders, at a kiosk, and on e-commerce sites. Austin Nobles, ExpiTrans director of operations, says QwickPAY’s security was a factor in its decision to resell it.
To use the service, which is offered by Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.-based ExpiTrans, merchants download the QwickPAY app and purchase a card-reader authenticator. Merchants must first have been approved for a merchant account.
In related POS-device news, Visa Inc. says 3,500 POS terminals that can accept contactless payments have been installed at 32 Olympic and 16 Paralympic venues in Paris in anticipation of the 2024 Olympics, which begins July 26.
Visa also launched Visa Go, a mobile app for Visa cardholders attending the games. The app provides discounts and offers from official partners and local shops and restaurants. Cardholders also can use a virtual Visa prepaid card through Visa Go if needed.
