Digital-commerce technology provider NCR Voyix Corp., formerly part of NCR Corp., has partnered with self-ordering software provider GRUBBRR to introduce a new ordering kiosk for restaurants.
The kiosk, which integrates with NCR Voyix’s commerce platform, was developed as a response to consumers’ growing preference for self-service ordering, the company says. A recent survey by PlayUSA, a content provider for the online-gaming industry, reveals two-thirds of consumers in the United States say they prefer to use a self-service kiosk rather than a human checkout. Play USA surveyed more than 1,000 U.S. consumers. NCR split into two companies in 2023. The other is NCR Atleos, which has the ATM business.
NCR Voyix is also positioning the kiosk as a way for food-service operators to fill the void created by an expected labor shortage. The U.S. Department of Labor predicts an there will be an average of 2.6 million job openings within food-service operations from 2022 to 2032.
During the pilot phase, the kiosk helped increased average ticket sizes 12% to 22%, as well as increase upsells, the company says.
