The trend toward cashless sports stadiums continues to roll like a juggernaut. ASM Global, a provider of convention-venue management and event strategy and producer of entertainment events, is installing more than 1,000 point-of-sale devices from Fiserv Inc.’s Clover Sport unit across three New Orleans sports and entertainment venues.
The three venues, Caesars Superdome, home of the National Football League’s New Orleans Saints and various collegiate sporting events, such as the Sugar Bowl, the Smoothie King Center, home of the National Basket Association’s Pelicans, and Champions Square, an outdoor festival space in downtown New Orleans, attract more than 2 million fans annually and host more than 300 events combined each year.
The three venues raise to more than 300 the number of sports and entertainment venues where Clover Sport’s hardware has been deployed. Clover Sport is point-of-sale hardware integrated with specialized software and services, such as loyalty and rewards programs.
ASM and the Louisiana State Exhibition Authority selected Clover as part of an ongoing, multiyear renovation to modernize infrastructure and operations on the sports and entertainment campus.
The installation of the terminals will enable fans attending events at the three venues to make digital, contactless, and self-service purchases at kiosks and grab-and-go marketplaces. Integrations to third-party software will provide access to mobile ordering, loyalty, and stored-value payment options. Clover Sport includes real-time data regarding how fans are engaging during an event. Clover says stadium operators can use this data to improve food-and-beverage operations and adjust staffing levels based on the flow of fans.
“Clover Sport provides us with the single technology solution we need to manage the complexities of multiple food and beverage events across three separate facilities as one enterprise,” says Doug Thornton, executive vice president for ASM Global, in a statement. “The technology enhancement will help create a better experience for fans attending events at our New Orleans venues, while also simplifying operations for our overall organization.”
In related news, The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars have partnered with Extend Enterprises Inc., a virtual card and spend-management platform, to provide the team’s more than 200 business users with a corporate credit card. Extend says its platform will allow the Jaguars management to keep secure virtual cards on file with different vendors, share cards with employees who need to make purchases, and gain real-time visibility into expenses ranging from travel and concessions to equipment and ad campaigns.
“Our partnership with Extend comes at a pivotal time for the Jaguars, as we modernize and streamline key finance processes. By extending the credit cards we already used to create virtual cards, our departments can now purchase what they need, when they need it,” Mark Sirota, chief financial officer for the Jacksonville Jaguars says in a prepared statement. “Digital spend management from Extend gives our team real-time data and insights to fully understand spend activity across our business.”
