Forter, a provider of identity-intelligence technology, announced early Monday several enhancements to its Payment Optimization technology aimed at increasing authorization rates and detecting account-takeover attempts.
Forter is testing what it calls a predictive-payment routing app that recommends when and how to use payment authentication, as well as the best processor and card network over which to route the transactions, and use of a network token for each transaction. The app will help merchants increase authorization rates and reduce costs by enabling them to input their payment strategies into the model, the company says.
In addition, New York-based Forter is rolling out a predictive-decisioning model to detect GenAI agents, which can shop and interact on behalf of consumers. The ability to detect these agents will enable businesses to reduce fraud by distinguishing the good agents, also known as bots that assist shoppers, from bad agents that can be used for malicious purposes.
The new predictive-decisioning model can improve a merchant’s ability to spot device-takeover attempts by 20%, and boost detection of spot-connection manipulation techniques, including the use of proxies and virtual private networks, by 15%. Forter introduced the enhancements in response to the growing use and sophistication of account-takeover and connection-manipulation attacks, the company says.
Forter has also added a GenAI feature that generates plain-text explanations of its decisions and highlights key information about the user, transaction, and network insights.
“Changing consumer behavior, advanced GenAI technology, sophisticated fraud and new regulations have all fundamentally changed [digital commerce],” Cyndy Lobb, chief product officer for Forter, says in a statement. “Our focus is on helping businesses stay a step ahead, tackling their payments, fraud, and identity challenges head-on, all within one platform.”
In addition to the enhancements. Forter has achieved Premier Partner status in Shopify’s Enterprise Technology Partner program, an invitation-only program for software developers and vendors that create apps and integrations for the Shopify platform. The Shopify technology partner program provides developers and vendors access to exclusive resources and new features, according to the company.
