Fortis Acquires EpicPay And Change Merchant Solutions to Add Integrated Payments Swagger

Fortis Payment Systems LLC is the latest acquirer to build up its integrated payments position, announcing Wednesday the acquisitions of EpicPay International LLC and Change Merchant Solutions LLC.

The two deals will boost Fortis’s options for independent software vendors and developers, the company says. “Technology partners will be able to choose from a wide array of operating models while connecting to a single payment platform,” a statement says. Terms were not disclosed. The acquisitions also will expand Fortis’s presence in the not-for-profit market.

EpicPay, a payment facilitator, says on its Web site it processes more than $20 billion annually in payment card and automated clearing house volume and has more than 13,000 clients. Change Merchant Solutions processes more than $1 billion annually. Both are independent sales organizations. Change recently tapped Zeamster, Fortis’s proprietary platform, to expand its reach for ISVs.

“Expansion into new segments via technology has always been part of our strategy. Both acquisitions support our efforts in this vision,” Jimmy Nafso, Fortis’s president and chief operating officer, said in a release.

Through these latest deals, Fortis says it expects to add incremental volume and new technology partners as well.
