FreedomPay Lands Big 5 and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/4/24

  • FreedomPay Inc. said Big 5 Sporting Goods has signed with the company to process payments at its 424 stores throughout the U.S. market.
  • Canada-based identity platform Trulioo said it will work with Mastercard to offer identity-verification services in onboarding both merchants and consumers to help prevent fraud.
  • The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau finalized a rule that creates a registry to detect and deter corporate offenders that have broken consumer laws and are subject to federal, state, or local government or court orders.
  • The buy now, pay later provider Sezzle Inc. announced it is providing services to Vallarta Supermarkets, a chain of 56 stores in Southern California.
  • Nium Pte Ltd., a provider of real-time cross-border payments, has added a capability to process payments for marketplaces.
  • NGP VAN, a software provider specializing in Democratic Party political campaigns, launched NGP VAN Payments, a fundraising platform aimed at digitizing the acceptance of donations.
  • DNA Payments said it is now offering to merchants in the United Kingdom online acceptance on the Discover Global Network.
  • The card-issuing platform Marqeta Inc. announced it is providing services for Sumeria, a digital-banking app launched by the France-based company Lydia Solutions. Separately, Marqueta has appointed former PayPal executive Marcin Glogowski senior vice president and managing director for Europe and chief executive for the United Kingdom.
  • Payments provider Bryte Payment Solutions named April Cahill chief operating officer. Employed at Bryte since 2018, Cahill previously was asset manager/vendor relations.
