Goldman Sachs in Apple Credit Card Deal and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 2/21/19

  • Apple Inc. and the Goldman Sachs Group Inc. will begin issuing a joint credit card this spring, The Wall Street Journal reported. The new card will tie into the Apple Wallet. Apple’s brand already is on a credit card issued by Barclaycard. It is unknown what will happen to that card, but the contract may have been up for rebidding when the Apple and Goldman Sachs deal was launched last year.
  • SignaPay Ltd. announced a new bank partnership with The Commercial Bank of California, which it said enables approvals for a greater mix of merchants and a streamlined onboarding process. SignaPay also introduced an improved customer relationship management platform through Integrated Reporting is Simple LLC (IRIS).
  • Bluefin Payment Systems LLC said its P2PE Manager service received a point-to-point encryption component certification from the PCI Security Standards Council.
  • Installment-payments provider Sezzle said its service is now available on the 3dcart e-commerce platform.
  • The mobile-parking app SpotHero said it is working with valet-parking software provider Oobeo to allow Oobeo to service SpotHero valet-parking customers.
  • USA Technologies Inc., a provider of contactless card-acceptance technology for vending and other self-serve markets, said vending-sales broker G&J Marketing and Sales LLC will resell its technology to G&J’s base of more than 2,000 operators of unattended retail locations.
  • Identity-technology provider Idemia announced it developed three-dimensional facial-recognition software for smart phones in collaboration with Infineon and pmdtechnologies.
  • Brex, which issues a corporate card aimed at startups, hired Elena Staykova as head of marketing, Staykova comes to the company from cybersecurity firm Cloudflare.
  • FlipGive, a funding app for organizations, announced a program that allows app users to link a payment card to their account and earn up to 10% cash back for their funding efforts when paying with the card at participating checkouts, including Sephora, Value Village, and Dollar Rent a Car.
