How BP Hopes to Boost User Touch Points With Its New Loyalty App

Oil and gas giant BP plc early Monday launched a loyalty app called earnify, which enables BP customers to earn rewards points for fuel and in-store purchases at BP and Amoco locations.

App users earn 1 point per $1 spent on fuel and 2 points per $1 spent on other in-store items, according to BP. In addition, users receive a 5-cents-per gallon discount for each gas purchase. Points earned can be redeemed for rewards, including additional fuel savings, in-store purchases, or special promotional offers.

As an incentive to attract users, BP is offering app users 250 welcome points upon registering in the app and paying them double points on all transactions for the first 90 days.

Users can register for an earnify account using their phone number and store credit and debit cards within the app to pay at the pump and in-store.

Consumers enrolled BP’s BPme Rewards program will transition to earnify once the new loyalty program is fully launched. The 6-year-old BPme program allows BP customers to pay for fuel, pre-order food and coffee, and earn rewards at BP and Amoco stations.

Greg Franks, senior vice president, mobility and convenience, Americas at BP says in a statement that the new program will save time for users and boost the company’s mobility business in the U.S. market.

The earnify app is free to download and compatible with the latest versions of the iOS and Android operating systems.

BP, which operates gas stations in 33 states and territories across the United States, the company’s largest market, says it expects the rollout of earnify will increase customer touchpoints from 12 million to more than 15 million per day globally by next year.
