Huntington Creates Payment-Strategy Unit and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/3/22

  • Huntington Bancshares Inc. said it is establishing a unit within the bank dedicated to payments strategy and investment. Amit Dhingra has been appointed to lead the group as Enterprise Payments Director.
  • A platform called i-payout said it is launching a real-time service for payouts in the U.S. and Canada. Rather than rely on transfers via cards, the service enables transactions directly into recipients’ bank accounts from an i-payout account.
  • CanPay, a payment network for cannabis sellers and consumers, said it is now accepted at 95% of medical marijuana treatment centers in Florida. The network debits users’ accounts via the automated clearing house.
  • Global Payments Inc. appointed Josh Whipple chief financial officer, succeeding Paul Todd, who is retiring at the end of the month. Whipple has been senior executive vice president and chief strategy and enterprise risk officer for the big processor.
