ID Fraud Losses Fell 17% And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/28/23

  • Losses to identity fraud fell 17% last year, to $43 billion, compared to 2021, thanks to beefed-up prevention at banks and credit unions and more active outreach by consumer-advocacy groups, according to the 20th edition of Javelin Strategy & Research’s Identity Fraud Study.
  • Payments provider Paysafe said Greyhound Lines Inc. will use the Paysafecash service to enable Greyhound customers to make secure cash payments when booking a trip online. When booking a trip online, the customer selects “cash” as the payment method. A barcode is generated which is then presented at one of more than 70,000 participating convenience stores for payment.
  • The independent sales organization MiCamp Solutions has chosen Repay Holdings Corp. as its processor, Repay announced.
  • Point-of-sale terminal maker PAX Technology Inc. said its IM30 device is being used in the Charge to Charge electric vehicle charging application in conjunction with unattended payments provider ISVPay.
  • Cryptocurrency exchange Coinme Inc. and the Stellar Development Foundation, a nonprofit promoting the development of the Stellar digital-currency network, have launched Circle Internet Financial’s stablecoin, USDC, in the Coinme wallet.
  • Digital credit card provider Tandym said its technology is supporting Jenson Pay, a private-label card for Jenson USA, an online bicycle shop.
  • Students studying at colleges served by Transact’s payments technology can order food from off-campus restaurants through Grubhub Marketplace using a Transact campus card, Transact said.
  • Vending and micro-market supplier Essentially Organic will use the Seed platform from self-serve payments technology provider Cantaloupe. The platform enables support for vending and micro-markets with a single connection.
  • The Western Union Co. appointed Claudia Reyes Armebianchi general manager for Mexico and Central America. She had been general manager for Peru and regional country director for Colombia, Ecuador, and Bolivia, prior to this position.
