IPS Advances IPSIPay Funding And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 9/21/23

    • Innovative Payment Solutions Inc. announced it has completed the second of three $500,000 capital contributions to IPSIPay Express LLC, a joint venture aimed at processing digital payments in the sports-betting and online-gaming markets. Partnering with IPSI in the venture are OpenPath and eFinityPay.
    • Reports indicate a security breach at T-Mobile exposed sensitive data, including billing history and saved payment methods, to other users in some instances. The telecom company called the incident a “temporary system glitch” affecting fewer than 100 customers. The issue was “quickly resolved,” the company said, according to reporting by Fierce Wireless.
    • Actum Processing, a processor specializing in automated clearing house payments, launched Instant Credits, a real-time payments service supporting transfers by cash-advance firms.
    • Alchemy Pay, a cryptocurrency payment gateway, has obtained a money-transmitter license in Arkansas, the first such U.S. license the Singapore-based company has received. The company, which enables conversions from cryptocurrencies to fiat money, in 2020 agreed to support payments for the massive marketplace Shopify Inc. in digital or fiat currencies.
    • Technology firm CGI announced the Federal Reserve has certified it to support transactions on FedNow, the real-time payments platform the Fed launched in July.
    • San Jose Water announced new options for customers to pay their bills, including PayPal, Venmo (part of PayPal), and Apple Pay. The utility relies on Invoice Cloud to manage payments through these and other channels.
    • The encryption firm Bluefin announced it is adding Mastercard Click to Pay as an additional checkout option on its platform.
    • Messaging and payments platform Solutions by Text appointed former Billtrust executive Nick Babinsky chief product officer.
    • Daniel O’Connor has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer at Valor PayTech, a payments-technology firm. O’Connor’s experience includes positions at Fiserv, Safrapay, and Ascentium Capital.
    • Flywire Corp., a U.S.-based platform for international payments, appointed Gretchen Howard to its board of directors. Howard is a former executive with Robinhood Markets Inc.
