Klarna’s Loss Widens And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 2/28/23

  • Buy now, pay later provider Klarna AB said its 2022 loss of 10.47 billion krona ($1 billion) grew on its 2021 loss of 7.1 billion krona ($680 million). This comes amid growth in 2022. The United States became Klarna’s largest market in December.
  • Also, Klarna will begin collecting late fees from United Kingdom consumers who miss a payment, reported new site City A.M. The fees, to begin March 16, will start at 5 pounds ($6.05) and be capped at 25% of the order value. In the United States, Klarna charges up to $7 as a late fee, according to multiple sources.
  • LawPay, a payments service for legal professionals, launched LawPay Pro, a billing software that offers time-tracking, invoicing, and payment operations.
  • Tasker Payment Gateways LLC said its gateway is now integrated with Authvia, a text-based payments service. Tasker specializes in high-risk payment processing.
  • Blaze Solutions Inc., developer of dispensary point-of-sale systems, launched Blaze ECOM, an e-commerce platform for cannabis retailers.
  • TaxBit, a tax and accounting provider for digital assets, said Block Inc.’s Cash App selected it to provide crypto tax forms to Cash App users who have bought or held Bitcoin.
  • Fiserv Inc. released a new delivery optimization service for enterprises to help them connect their digital commerce operations to more than 40 different delivery providers in a single integration.
  • Diversified Data Processing & Consulting Inc. said its bill payment kiosks are now in use in the City Utilities building in Fort Wayne, Ind.
  • Authentication platform 1Kosmos released the 1Kosmos DevX tool to help developers evaluate how passwordless, multi-factor authentication and identity verification might work with new and existing applications.
  • Prepaid Technologies has rebranded as Dash Solutions. The change also brings WorkStride, an incentives provider it acquired in 2022, under the Dash moniker.
