Restaurant point-of-sale specialist Lavu Inc. notes more than 1 billion orders have been placed on its POS platform. This comes as Lavu starts a restaurant advertising program featuring billboard advertising. Lavu, which debuted with an iOS app in 2010, now has customers in 65 countries.
The billboard program, however, harkens back to a tried-and-true advertising form, especially for local businesses. The first billboard is for O’Maddy’s, a restaurant in Gulfport, Fla. “It’s crucial, especially now, to innovate in how we attract customers and sustain our businesses,” Joe Guenther, O’Maddy’s owners, says in a statement.
Now falling under the umbrella of out-of-home advertising, billboards have gone digital as well as papered ones. They continue to have effectiveness. Quick-service restaurants increased their out-of-home advertising budgets by 4.2% more in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the year prior quarter, according to the Out of Home Advertising Association of America.
As for its POS service, Tampa, Fla.-based Lavu now offers iPad-based systems, dual pricing for cash and card payments, a self-ordering kiosk, third-party delivery and accounting integrations, as well as access to a payment gateway.
