Mastercard Payment Passkey Debuts and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 8/29/24

  • Mastercard Inc. launched its Payment Passkey Service with payments processors and consumers in India, and says it will introduce the technology in other markets globally in coming months. The technology, aimed at online transactions, tokenizes payment credentials and enables biometric authentication of cardholders.
  • Canada-based online travel agency justfly.com introduced a pay-by-bank feature, allowing travelers to pay for expenses directly from their bank accounts, with settlement “within minutes” in some instances, the company says.
  • ParTech Inc., a restaurant point-of-sale technology provider, formed a partnership with FranchiseSEE, a software provider for franchisors, that enables FranchiseSEE users to import metrics from PAR Brink POS.
  • Password and passkey-management platform Bitwarden extended its autofill feature to enable automatic entry of credit card and shipping details in online forms.
  • AuthenticID Inc. released an updated Smart ReAuth service that enables using a selfie image to reconfirm an identity.
  • ATM provider NCR Atleos Corp. launched its LibertyX Bitcoin Cashout service that enables consumers with LibertyX accounts to sell bitcoin and pick up their cash at ATMs.
  • Payments processor Silverflow is partnering with Halo Dot, a provider of softPOS technology, to offer the technology to Silverflow clients. With softPOS, merchants can run contactless card or wallet transactions with an ordinary Android smart phone. Both companies are based in the Netherlands, though Halo Dot’s software is available globally.
