- Switched transactions dipped 1% for the week ended Feb. 21 for Mastercard Inc. compared to the same week last year, the card network reported. It is the first weekly year-over-year dip in switched transactions for Mastercard so far this year and reflects a swing from 4% growth in the week ended Feb. 14.
- Payments provider Repay Holdings Corp. announced Protego Technologies Ltd. will help Repay recruit technology talent, initially for an office in Ireland. Repay also announced an integration with Virtual Benefits Administrator, a provider of employee-benefits software for the insurance industry.
- Parking-technology provider Cleverciti Systems has integrated parking payments via the PayByPhone app into a parking-guidance system it is developing for the central business district in Redwood City, Calif.
- Tops Markets LLC, which runs the Tops Friendly Markets chain of 157 stores, said it is now offering its physical and digital gift cards on its Web site. The cards are managed by Blackhawk Network.
- Buy now, pay later specialist Sezzle Inc. reported 16,680 active merchants joined its platform in 2020, bringing the total to 26,700 by year’s end. Another 2,500 joined last month, a record monthly total.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. said it is working with the organizations CodeHouse, Inroads, and the National Association of Black Accountants to diversify its hiring.
- Paul Melby, who most recently led the fraud-science team at Capital One, has joined Vesta, a provider of technology to fight card-not-present fraud, as senior vice president for artificial intelligence and research and development.
