• MoneyGram Inc. has entered into a confidentiality agreement with rival Euronet Worldwide Inc. to further consider Euronet’s unsolicited offer to acquire MoneyGram, which had previously entered into an agreement to be acquired by Ant Financial Services Group.
• Merchant processor Total Merchant Services announced an expanded collection of application programming interfaces and software development kits to allow developers on its Groovv platform to more easily integrate payments into their software or Web sites. Integrated software vendors using Groov Integrated Payments in their point-of-sale or business-management programs can earn revenue share when their customers process transactions, Total said.
• Processor Fidelity National Information Services Inc. (FIS) has been named the official payments and loyalty provider for minor-league baseball, which inlcudes 160 clubs across the U.S. and Canada.
• Goldmoney Inc., operator of a gold-based savings network, said it has expanded the payment methods customers can use to buy gold to include Apple Pay and all U.S. checking or savings accounts. WeChat Pay will be added in coming weeks.
• The Secure Technology Alliance’s Mobile Council has released a white paper exploring authentication methods for mobile payments. The paper can be downloaded here.
• NXT-ID Inc., a mobile-security provider, said it has entered into a letter of intent to combine its business with that of Fit Pay Inc., a provider or payment-credential management. The deal includes stock and cash consideration. The parties expect to complete the transaction early in the second quarter.
