Several payments-industry vendors are making product and services announcements in conjunction with the National Retail Federation’s annual Big Show convention this week in New York.
Verifone unveiled the PayWare Mobile e355, a mobile point-of-sale terminal that accepts magnetic stripe, near-field communication (NFC), Europay-MasterCard-Visa (EMV), and Apple Pay transactions. Available in late summer, the device supports multiple mobile operating systems, including Android, iOS and Windows, and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity.
Pricing information was not immediately available.
San Jose, Calif.-based Verifone also announced that it is working with consumer electronics giant Samsung on an Android-based mobile POS device suited for multilane and larger retailers. To be introduced later this year, the initial product includes an 8-inch Samsung Galaxy tablet and Verifone’s encryption services.
In related news, payment processor Vantiv Inc. has certified Verifone’s Secure Commerce Architecture that enables Verifone’s MX 900 payment terminals to connect directly to Vantiv’s processing system.
In other news from the NRF show, merchant processor Cayan, formerly known as Merchant Warehouse, says it has hired Ben Saren, a former Litle & Co. executive, as senior vice president of marketing.
And merchant-services company FreedomPay Inc. says it now offers PCI-validated encryption and EMV services on Azure, Microsoft Corp.’s cloud-computing platform. FreedomPay says its service supports a variety of fixed and mobile POS systems, include Micros, Revel Systems, and Digital Dining.
