- Payments provider Nuvei Corp. closed on its previously announced $1.3-billion deal to acquire Paya Holdings Inc. Nuvei will release fourth-quarter and full-year 2022 results on March 8. Earlier this week, Paya released figures indicating its 2022 payments volume totaled $49.5 billion, with 2022 revenue of $282.7 million and net income of $8.3 million.
- Processor Evertec Inc. said it closed on its $25 million acquisition of Brazil-based Paysmart Pagamentos Eletronicos Ltda, which provides issuer processing services and BIN sponsorship services for prepaid programs. Evertec also reported fourth quarter 2022 revenue of $161.8 million a 4.3% increase from $155.2 million in the 2021 fourth quarter. It had a quarterly profit of $28.7 million, a 30.3% decrease from $41.2 million a year prior. For all of 2022, Evertec had revenue of $618.4 million, a 4.8% increase from $589.8 million in 2021. Its net income of $238.9 million was up 48.3% from $161.1 million in 2021.
- Payments provider Shift4 Payments Inc. said it has integrated its point-of-sale processing platform with Mashgin, a provider of contactless self-checkout systems.
- Ding, operator of an international top-up platform, announced an agreement allowing Canadian customers of The Western Union Co. to send top-up payments internationally to mobile phones belonging to customers of prepaid services globally.
- LexisNexis Risk Solutions released its “True Impact of Failed Payments Report” on cross-border payments performance globally. More than 70% of the surveyed payments executives were dissatisfied with their payment failure rate.
- Payments-technology provider Verifone Inc. will develop security for its cloud infrastructure via the Lacework Polygraph Data Platform, Lacework said. Lacework specializes in security software for cloud applications.
- Cryptocurrency-payments provider BitPay Inc. announced its users can now synchronize wallet transactions directly within the app to tax software from ZenLedger, which will calculate cost basis, fair market value, and other tax-relevant data.
- Linux Europe announced it has formed the OpenWallet Foundation, aimed at developing open-source software to support interoperability for digital-wallet use cases, including payments and identity.
- Restaurant point-of-sale payments provider SpotOn Transact LLC said it has been designated the preferred technology partner by the North Carolina Restaurant & Lodging Association.
- The Electronic Transactions Association announced its inaugural class of Top 10 Payments Independent Software Vendors. They include BigTimeSoftware, Biller Genie, Cusi, Everyware, Kickfin, ParkHub, Paymints.io, SoftPoint, Transact Campus Inc., and Zuza.
