- LevelUp announced 25 more restaurant companies as clients of its mobile-ordering and -payment app. These include national brands Smoothie King and Zaxby’s.
- ParTech Inc., a vendor of point-of-sale software to the restaurant and retail industries, launched PAR Pay, an EMV-capable processing solution for credit, debit, and stored-value cards. ParTech is a unit of PAR Technology Corp.
- Washington, D.C.’s Metro transit system announced it plans $10 million in upgrades to allow riders to pay fares with a mobile phone by the end of next year, The Washington Post reported. The contactless system will work similarly to the way it does currently with the system’s SmartTrip cards. Each mobile-wallet provider, including apps like Apple Pay and Google Pay, will have to work with Metro to ensure its technology meets the agency’s standards, the Post reported.
- Processor Galileo launched an application programming interface that allows users to deposit funds denominated in a cryptocurrency into an account and then spend the funds via cards or through mobile apps. Transactions are conducted in fiat currency and converted to the equivalent digital currency.
- Stuzo LLC, a digital commerce provider, said it completed the PCI DSS Level 1 compliance certification.
- U.S. Bank said its Mastercard-branded corporate travel cards can now be loaded into the Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay mobile wallets.
- Pivotal Payments announced its payment-aggregator platform PayFac Connect is available.
- Payments provider CardFlight launched the SwipeSimple Register, a countertop point-of-sale service that works on iOS and Android tablets.
- Payment Data Systems Inc. opened an office in Franklin, Tenn., which houses its payments-integration team under the Singular Payments and Payfac in a Box brands.
- Paytm Canada launched a rewards platform for bill payments. The mobile-payment service, a unit of India’s Paytm, works with bank accounts, debit cards, cash, or some credit cards at more than 6,000 Canada Post locations for bill payments.
- Masabi, a developer of mobile-ticketing applications for public transit in which Mastercard Inc. has a minority interest, announced an integration with Uber’s ride-sharing app that will enable Uber users in more than 30 cities to display transit tickets and pay for the multi-mode ride within the Uber app.
- Processor Fiserv Inc. named Kim Crawford Goodman president of its card-services business, which includes credit and debit card processing, ATM services, and the Accel electronic funds transfer network. Goodman most recently was CEO of Worldpay US and earlier worked for seven years at American Express Co.
