PayPal Adds Tap to Pay on iPhone And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/7/24

  • PayPal Holdings Inc. said Tap to Pay on iPhone is available for all Venmo business profile and PayPal Zettle users in the United States. Tap to Pay on iPhone enables merchants to accept contactless payments using an iPhone with no extra hardware, only a payments app. The service had been in testing since mid-2023. Android users have been able to accept PayPal Tap to Pay on Android transactions since 2023.
  • DailyPay announced the Visa+ cross-network payments service is now available to its users. Visa+, which was announced in the spring of 2023 and launched late in the year, is a consortium of payments-network providers aiming at interoperability. The original participants are PayPal, Venmo, i2c, TabaPay, and Western Union, in addition to DailyPay.
  • Xsolla, a payments processor for video games, launched Xsolla Wallet, aimed at game developers and creators alike. For creators, the app includes an Xsolla-branded Mastercard to enable spending from game earnings.
  • Nuvei Corp. released network tokenization updates to its payment platform including improvements to first-time payments, automatic token updates, and the ability to switch processing strategies if a token issue occurs.
  • Fleetcor Technologies Inc., a payments provider for trucking fleets, announced it will change its name to Corpay effective March 25, the day its shares begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange with the ticker symbol CPAY. The company says it is the largest commercial Mastercard issuer in North America.
  • Nayax Ltd., an Israel-based global payments platform that has operated in the U.S. market since 2012, announced it has agreed to acquire VNtecnologia, a Brazilian provider of technology for self-service industries, for $22.3 million. The deal will bring to Nayax an additional 18,300 unattended points of sale, including vending machines and micromarkets.
  • Bank of America Corp. announced a record 644 patents granted in 2023, with grants in online and mobile banking and payments, as well as data analytics, information security, and artificial intelligence.
  • Klarna AB released its sustainability report for 2023, which among other data, indicates more than 193,000 U.S. consumers contributed more than $200,000 since the June launch of a program to improve the environment.
