- PayPal Holdings Inc. said will release a second wave of advertisements with actor Will Ferrell to promote its checkout services, PayPal Pay Later, its buy now, pay later service, and a sweepstakes that will cover, for 1,000 winners for 100 days, up to $100 of their transactions made with PayPal. PayPal launched the campaign with the Saturday Night Live alumnus in September.
- Citgo Petroleum Corp. unveiled its Club Citgo mobile app, which incorporates the features of its Citgo Pay app while offering what the company calls a streamlined approach to payments, rewards, and account management, along with biometric authentication. The Citgo Pay app was discontinued April 1.
- Payments-orchestration platform CellPoint Digital Holdings Ltd. said it will leverage global acquiring, digital payment processing, and other payment services from Checkout.com under an agreement that takes effect June 1.
- Payment friction, fraud, and other operational issues are costing businesses $98.5 million per year each on average, according to a study from FIS Inc. and Oxford Economics. The study late last year surveyed 1,000 business executives in six industries across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore.
- The parking-app provider ParkHub has rebranded as JustPark in the wake of JustPark’s acquisition of the company last year.
