- In its latest flirtation with plastic credit cards, online payments leader PayPal Holdings Inc. unveiled its PayPal Cashback Mastercard, a no-annual-fee card issued by Synchrony Bank that gives PayPal account holders 2% cash back on online and in-store purchases wherever Mastercard is accepted. Rewards, on which there are no limits or expiration dates, are applied to the cardholder’s PayPal balance and can be redeemed any time.
- TXT180 Inc., a text-marketing services provider, expanded its white-label reseller program to give resellers the option to accept PayPal payments from their customers.
- Payments provider Sterling Payment Technologies said it now supports the ExaDigm Inc. G3 wireless point-of-sale terminal.
- Commerce platform ShopKeep Inc. announced ShopKeep Capital, a merchant cash-advance service. ShopKeep says more than 24,000 independent businesses use its tablet-based point-of-sale system.
- American Express Co. announced its “Pay It Plan It” feature for mobile payments that enables U.S. consumer and cobranded AmEx cardholders to pay immediately for a purchase with a tap on their mobile devices or, under the “Plan It” aspect, pay for purchases exceeding $100 in monthly installments over three to 24 months for a fixed fee and no interest.
- Ondot Systems, a provider of mobile-based payment card services, said it joined the Symitar Vendor Integration Program. Symitar provides integrated computer systems for credit unions.
- Users of Citi Bike, the bicycle-sharing service in New York City, can now use Apple Pay to make in-app payments for the service, reported AppleInsider.com.
- The Electronic Transactions Association will have its annual FinTech Policy Forum Sept. 14 in Washington, D.C., to review payments-related technology and public-policy issues with industry executives, members of Congress, and federal regulators.
- Law firm Frost Brown Todd said it now accepts Bitcoin as payment for legal fees.
