Payroc Acquires eConduit and other Digital Transactions News brief from 9/15/20

  • Payments provider Payroc Intermediate Holdings LLC has acquired technology provider Blackline Partners LLC, which does business as eConduit. Blackline provides a Web-based API by which software companies can enable clients to accept EMV payments.
  • Visa Canada launched Click to Pay in that country. Click to Pay is based on the EMV Secure Remote Commerce standard for payments via Web, mobile, app, or connected device.
  • For the first time, U.S. transactions and dollar volumes for Visa and Mastercard debit cards are greater than for the networks’ credit cards as of the mid-point of 2020, according to new research from Mercator Advisory Group.
  • A report from payments-technology provider Square Inc. indicates 23.2% of Square’s U.S. sellers were cashless at the height of shelter-in-place mandates in April, up from 5.4% in February. By August, that number had “stabilized” at 13.4%, Square said.
  • Payments provider Paysafe Group appointed Ismail Dawood as its new group chief financial officer, reporting to chief executive Philip McHugh. Dawood, who will assume his position Sept. 28, comes to Paysafe from financial-services provider Branch International.
