- Payments provider Paysafe Group Holdings Ltd. announced the U.S. launch of Paysafecash, a digital service that allow consumers to pay online in cash. The service is provided by InComm Payments’ Vanilla Direct payment network.
- Some 30% of consumers have signed up for peer-to-peer payment platforms in the past six months, according to a survey of 1,500 consumers by JPMorgan Chase & Co. for the company’s national Digital Banking Attitudes Study. The survey was fielded in October and November. The respondents were evenly divided between Chase and non-Chase customers.
- In related news, some 77% of consumers said they used a peer-to-peer payments app this year, up from 42% in 2019, according to the latest installment of the 2020 State of Payments Report from card-issuing platform Marqeta Inc. The survey canvassed 2,000 U.S. consumers.
- Scanit launched a digital wallet that it says can read QR codes from a distance of up to 20 feet for contactless transactions.
- Flywire Payments Corp.’s platform, which specializes in the education, health-care, and travel sectors, has integrated Adyen AB’s payment service.
- Payroll startup Deel Inc. said more than 1,000 companies are now using its platform to pay remote workers as the Covid-19 pandemic has led to more work-at-home arrangements for employees.
- With Covid-19 shuttering in-person bill-payment locations, some 16% of consumers say they now use digital platforms to pay bills more often than they did before the pandemic, according to a survey of 3,000 U.S. adults by processor ACI Worldwide Inc.
- Payments-technology provider WEX Inc. has completed the previously announced acquisitions of business-payments firms eNett International and Optal for a total sum of $577.5 million.
- The Rochester Institute of Technology has installed point-of-sale technology from Agilysys Inc. in its campus dining and sports facilities. The InfoGenesis system offers contactless self-service options.
- Jason Bohrer has been named executive director of the Secure Technology Alliance and the U.S. Payments Forum. Bohrer, who is succeeding retiring director Randy Vanderhoof, has served in executive roles at CPI Card Group, HID Global, and Motorola.
- Payments provider NMI named Jagdeep Sahota vice president of strategic alliances. Sahota comes to the company from Salesforce, where he was senior director, strategic product partnerships, and before that served in executive roles at JPMorgan Chase, Visa Inc., and PayPal Holdings Inc.
