 Plaid Beacon Debuts And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/22/23

  • Open banking specialist Plaid launched Plaid Beacon, an anti-fraud network for fintechs and financial institutions.
  • The fintech Karma Wallet has allied with card-issuing platform Marqeta Inc. to introduce a prepaid card offering cash-back rewards from merchants said to be local, ethical, and sustainable.
  • PayEm, a spend-management platform, has integrated with American Express to allow AmEx business card holders to create virtual cards that allow employees and freelancers to pay travel and other expenses.
  • Gift card and loyalty specialist Factor4 LLC launched its Design Your Own Card service that enables merchants to design their gift and loyalty cards on the Factor4 Web site. There are more than 70 designs to use as templates.
  • U.S.-based cryptocurrency platform Ripple said its subsidiary, Ripple Markets APAC Pte Ltd., has received an approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore to offer regulated digital payment tokens and services in that city-state.
  • Mastercard Inc. has filed an application to trademark applications concerning blockchain technology with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The application indicates the card network plans to launch software supporting crypto transactions and to create connections between virtual-asset service providers.
  • Financial services advisory firm Aite-Novarica Group has rebranded as Datos Insights.
  • Chargebacks911 appointed Bill Oglesby its vice president of partnerships. He previously was vice president of channel and partnerships at NeuroID and vice president of partner success at Midigator.
  • Payments-technology company PayTrace has appointed Tom Lizzio director of ISV sales. Lizzio comes to the company from EVO Payments Inc., which was acquired by Global Payments Inc. in March.
