Priority Will Acquire Finxera and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 3/8/21

  • Payments provider Priority Technology Holdings Inc. announced it has agreed to acquire Finxera Holdings Inc., a provider of banking-as-a-service technology. Terms were not announced for the transaction, which is expected to close in the third quarter.
  • Mastercard Inc. said it is expanding its Engage platform to digital first deployment, assistance and training through the Mastercard Academy, and promotion to Mastercard’s customer base.
  • Fifty-six percent of debit card transactions for gasoline took place at fuel dispensers, with the remaining 44% occurring in the service station, according to the Tracking Transaction Trends report from PSCU, a credit union service organization, for the week of Feb. 28. For credit card purchases, the split was 75% at fuel dispensers and 25% at service stations.
  • Digital payments provider AeroPay said it closed on a funding round of more than $5 million. Chicago Ventures led the investment.
  • The FIDO Alliance will hold its 2021 Virtual Summit: Modern Authentication for Financial Services on March 25.
  • Paysafe Group announced a multiyear deal to use Microsoft Corp.’s Azure cloud-computing platform and tools for its U.S. payment processing and merchant services.
  • TerraPay, a Netherlands-based payments-technology provider, said it is entering the U.S. and Canadian markets for digital cross-border remittances.
