Pulse Volume Jumps 17.8% and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/21/22

  • Discover Financial Services reported a net income of $1.1 billion in the fourth quarter, a 37.6% increase from $799 million in the fourth quarter of 2020. Net income for 2021 totaled $5.4 billion, a 391% increase from $1.1 billion in 2020. Discover said volume on its Pulse debit network was $64.8 million in the fourth quarter, a 17.8% increase from $55.1 million the year prior.
  • Vanco, a provider of digital payments to schools, said it has extended for five years a partnership with Skyward, a vendor of administrative software to the educational community.
  • Boomerang, a vendor of donor-management software for nonprofits, said it processed 7 million donations in 2021 worth more than $8.1 billion, both records for the company.
  • Pushpay, a provider of donor-management technology, launched ParishStaq, mobile-giving software aimed at Catholic churches.
  • Payments provider AvidXchange Holdings Inc. launched FastPay Political+, a service designed to help political agencies and media suppliers nationwide automate the media buying and selling processes.
  • Merchants could get a boost from gift cards in the first half of 2022 as 47% of consumers who received the cards in December indicate they plan to spend more than the value of the cards, according to a post-Christmas consumer survey by Blackhawk Network. The survey evoked 1,925 responses.
  • Tempus, a U.S. provider of international payments services to businesses, has changed its name to Monex, adopting the name of Tempus’s parent company.
  • Jifiti, a provider of point-of-sale services, launched what it says is the first white-labeled, off-the-shelf buy now, pay later platform for merchants.
  • Infinicept Inc., a provider of services for embedded payments, said Modo has joined its partner network. Modo specializes in simplifying complex payment flows for companies.
  • Bestpass Inc., a specialist in toll-management software for commercial fleets, hired Jason Walker as chief revenue officer. Walker comes to the company from GPS Insight.
