- Transaction volume for hotels and restaurants fell between 40% and 50% in December compared to December 2019, according to numbers released by payments provider Shift4 Payments Inc. Retail and e-commerce businesses, on the other hand, saw a year-over-year increase in volume last month for the first time since the pandemic set in.
- Xformative Payment Systems, a 4-year-old issuer processor, said it issued more than 1.5 million payment cards and processed more than $851 million in transactions in 2020.
- Payments-technology provider Mogo Inc. announced it is offering a 1% cash-back reward in Bitcoin to holders of its Visa platinum prepaid card who refer someone to Mogo.
- Payments-technology provider Repay Holdings Corp. has integrated with Billtrust Inc.’s Business Payments Network, enabling Repay’s corporate clients to initiate electronic payments to Billtrust’s network of suppliers and vendors.
- Technology and consulting firm Mindtree said it has developed an app for the insurance company Aflac that lets policyholders upload claims and supporting documents via a mobile device.
- Point-of-sale equipment maker Touch Dynamic released its ultra-slim Razor all-in-one device that includes a 15.6-inch display and a choice of Intel or Android processing chips.
- First American Payment Systems LP said four of its employees are members of Electronic Transactions Association committees for 2021.
- Buy now, pay later provider Uplift said Jeffery L. Power, who is head and chief investment officer of Braeburn Capital, an Apple Inc. subsidiary, joined its board of directors.
