Samsung Pay mini May Be in Development and other Digital Transactions News briefs

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. is planning to launch an app in South Korea that will streamline online payments for users of Samsung Pay, Reuters reported, citing a report in the Electronic Times. The app, dubbed Samsung Pay mini, will also be compatible with all Android and Apple Inc. devices, unlike the current Samsung Pay service, which works only on Samsung hardware. No launch date was given, nor was there information about whether the new app will become available in other markets.

Password-management company Dashlane Inc. closed a $22.5 million Series C round led by credit bureau TransUnion. The company also announced former Visa chief executive Carl Pascarella has joined its board as an independent director. Dashlane said the latest investment will be used to further the companys move into identity-management technology for payments.

ZOZI, which makes online reservation, payment, and customer management software, said its ZOZI Advance platform now has ticketing capabilities. The company also announced an Android app to complement its recently launched iOS app.

Payments provider Clearent LLC and Instore, a unit of Own Group Inc., which makes an iPad-based point-of-sale system, have a sales partnership.

Allison Amadia has joined processor PayNearMe as general counsel. Most recently, Amadia worked for Extreme Networks Inc. PayNearMe’s technology allows consumers to buy online and pay in cash at store checkout counters. Its latest venture is a service allowing riders of Dallas Area Rapid Transit trains and buses to buy tickets with a mobile app and pay in cash at 7-Eleven stores and other locations.

The Smart Card Alliance trade group has introduced a new conference aimed at security and privacy concerns related to the Internet of Things. The inaugural event will take place Oct. 19-20 in Chicago.

A CreditCards.com analysis of prepaid card providers found only 30% of prepaid debit cards fully disclosed their fees to consumers.
