Sightline Payments Gets Set to Support Cashless Wagering for a New Las Vegas Resort

A new resort will open in Las Vegas next week, and with it will come cashless wagering, the ability to place bets via a mobile phone. Resorts World Las Vegas says it will be the first casino in the city to offer cashless betting at both slot machines and table games.

The feature will be enabled through the resort’s digital-gaming wallet, GamingPlay, and will be supported by technology from Sightline Payments, a Las Vegas-based payments provider specializing in casinos. Guests will load their GamingPlay wallet by using Sightline’s Play+ utility to connect to a funding source, including bank accounts or credit, debit, or PayPal accounts, according to information from the resort.

Overall, Sightline says it enrolled more than 1.5 million Play+ accounts in more than 70 programs across 39 states. The company supports transactions for sports betting as well as online gaming. It says the cashless opportunity embraces a market with a revenue stream of $90 billion annually flowing from more than 100 million users.

“Launching cashless gaming solutions at the first major Las Vegas casino opening in a decade presents a tremendous opportunity for Sightline to further the digital transformation of the consumer experience in gaming,” said Joe Pappano, Sightline’s chief executive and a former Worldpay executive, in a statement. “Resorts World Las Vegas will spotlight the impact that payments innovations can have on the integrated casino resort to the entire gaming industry.”

The new resort and casino is set to open June 24 and is expected to include 117,000 square feet of gaming space, with more than 1,400 slot machines, 117 table games, and 30 poker tables, along with a sports book.

Other major processors aiming at the U.S. gaming market include Paysafe Group Holdings Ltd., which is handling casino bets in 15 states. The company is also eyeing sports betting, which 21 states have legalized.
