Sionic’s New Real-Time Payment Service and other Digital Transactions New briefs from 6/14/22

  • Payments provider Sionic announced a service that allows consumers to pay merchants at the point of sale via real-time transfers from the consumer’s bank account to the merchant’s bank account. The service includes incentives merchants can use to induce consumers to use the service in preference to rewards credit cards.
  • XTM Inc. announced it has signed three large U.S. restaurant chains for its Today staff-payouts service. The chains were not named.
  • Buy now, pay later specialist Affirm Inc. has partnered with travel platform Agoda to allow travelers to pay for trips on the Web or via an app with installments over time.
  • A Canada-based startup called PaySprint Inc. has launched its PaySprint payment service, which offers a digital wallet for peer-to-peer transfers and a merchant account for retail payments on any mobile device.
  • Crypto payments provider Alchemy Pay said it is working with risk-managment firm Forter to add security and offer higher approval rates.
  • Bill-payment provider Aliaswire introduced the general availability of a service that allows more than one person in a household to log in separately and make payments against a shared account for rent, dues, service fees, deposits, and other needs.
  • Discover Network signed an agreement with Bancomat S.p.A. to allow Discover, Diners Club International, and network-aliance cardholders to use their cards and mobile wallets on Bancomat’s network across Italy.
