Slide Mobile Adds In-App Shopping for Online Purchases

Responding to consumer demand for an easier way to shop and earn rewards online, Raise Marketplace LLC announced Thursday the launch of an in-app shopping feature for its Slide mobile app. Consumers can now connect directly through the Slide app to the company’s more than 200 merchant partners to shop, pay, and earn cash-back rewards of 4% to 5% without leaving the app.

To initiate an online purchase, app users select Shop Online and select the retailer they want to shop at. They can view the retailer’s Web site within the app and begin adding items to their shopping cart. At checkout, users receive a code that can be entered into the gift card field to initiate payment, which is done natively through the Slide app. Slide’s merchant base includes AMC Theaters, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Chipotle, Lowe’s, Ulta Beauty, and REI.

“We have a convenient and customer-friendly in-store user experience and we wanted to create the same type of experience online,” says Raise Marketplace chief executive Jay Klauminzer. “Our goal is to make it even easier and more rewarding than ever before to shop online and earn rewards.”

Klauminzer: “With inflation on the rise, consumers are looking to save money when they shop.”

Consumers using the Slide app, which launched in July 2020, can earn unlimited 4% cash-back on purchases when purchasing online or in store. To make purchases, consumers must link a payment option to their account, such as a debit or credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal wallets, ACH or BitPay.

Consumers can earn an additional 1% cash back by prefunding their account using BitPay, for example. Slide users can earn up to a $20 credit for referring a new user. The credit is also paid to new customers as an incentive to begin using the app.

Earned rewards can be applied to a consumer’s next purchase through the app or cashed out to a Venmo or PayPal account when rewards total $15. “We want people to use the app and provide flexibility when accessing rewards, so we set the cash-out threshold at an attractive level,” Klauminzer says. “With inflation on the rise, consumers are looking to save money when they shop and our app helps them do that.”

In addition to the Slide app, Raise’s other products include gift card marketplace Raise.com and a supporting mobile app, both of which allow consumers to purchase gift cards at a discount.
