SpotOn’s Sidekick Debuts and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 6/7/21

  • Point-of-sale developer SpotOn introduced SpotOn Sidekick, a handheld POS-acceptance device designed specifically for food trucks, pop-up dining, cafes, and other mobile food kitchens. Pricing was not disclosed.
  • Visa Inc. said banking giant Goldman Sachs will deploy Visa’s B2B Connect and Visa Direct Payouts platforms to speed cross-border business-to-consumer and business-to-business payments for Goldman client firms.
  • American Express Co. announced Membership Week, a first-time promotion set for June 14-18 and featuring offers and deals for consumer and small-business cardholders.
  • Paysafe Group announced IntelliPay has added Paysafecash to its product roster. Paysafecash enables consumers to make cash payments for online transactions. The two companies have worked together since 2015.
  • VitusVet, a provider of payments and other technology services to veterinary practices, is teaming with delivery service Shipt Inc. to offer same-day delivery of prescriptions to pet owners.
  • Humbl Inc., a startup aimed at simplifying blockchain technologies for payments and other applications, said it has closed on its acquisition of Tickeri Inc., a ticketing platform aimed at the Latin American market.
  • The president of El Salvador is expected this week to submit a bill that would make that country the first in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. Some 70% of citizens in that country are said to lack a bank account.
