- Square Inc. launched its Early Access Program for beta testing in Spain. The program allows select businesses and freelancers to access Square technology. The move marks Square’s entry in the Spanish market.
- Sky Systemz, a business-to-business software company, launched Sky Paymentz, a service to enable businesses to accept payments in person, online, and via automated clearing house transactions.
- Chargezoom, a platform for billing and payments, closed a $2-million seed round led by Okapi Venture Capital.
- Payments provider Trust Payments, a specialist in transactions based on cryptocurrency, said it will provide a payments platform for the Kriptomat cryptocurrency exchange.
- Sonoco Products Co., a provider of consumer packaging and other products, has adopted Coupa Software’s Coupa Pay with virtual cards to help streamline purchasing.
- Digital commerce and software company Adobe launched Payment Services for Adobe Commerce. Built using PayPal Holdings Inc.’s Commerce Platform, the service enables online merchants to add integrated payment acceptance without having to integrate a third-party provider.
- InComm Payments expanded its suite of Serve products to now include a Serve Pay As You Go Visa Prepaid card and free reloads of the Serve American Express card.
- Mastercard Inc. announced grants totaling $5 million to Morehouse College and Spelman College to develop the Center for Black Entrepreneurship. Both institutions are historically Black colleges and universities.
- Debit network Shazam said it now offers mobile remote deposit capture services from FTNI to its clients.
- Credit card holders in Canada are spending less on average with their cards in 2021 than in 2020, according to the J.D. Power 2021 Canada Credit Card Satisfaction Study. They are spending $1,155 monthly, down from $1,200 in 2020.
