Square Joins US Foods’ Check program and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/26/24

  • Square announced it has joined US Foods’ Check program, which offers technology to restaurants. Square is the point-of-sale payments unit of Block Inc. US Foods is a distributor to the dining industry.
  • China’s UnionPay cards now total more than 240 million outside China, the company said in an update, with issuance in 82 countries, and with some 200 digital wallets supporting the cards. The company added its mobile-payments service, QuickPass, is accepted at more than 6 million points of sale in Europe, with consumers deploying the service on Apple Pay and Huawei Pay.
  • Swivel Transactions LLC, a money-movement platform serving financial institutions, announced credit-union and community-bank clients can enable acceptance of loan payments through an integration of Swivel and Apple Pay.
  • The Australian payments platform Airwallex Ltd. said it will partner with Float, a Canada-based payments fintech, to process domestic and international bill payments for Canadian companies.
