• In a sign of further global expansion plans, merchant acquirer Square Inc. in June incorporated a business in the United Kingdom called Square Europe Ltd. and began testing its payment system in London, Reuters reported. Besides the U.S., Square already operates in Canada, Australia, and Japan.
• Processor Total Merchant Services Inc. announced the availability of a suite of card-not-present payment services for small businesses through its cloud-based Groovv Online Payments service.
• In a survey by loyalty marketing research firm Colloquy about consumer attitudes regarding wearable devices, 39% of respondents said they did not find wearables appealing for mobile payments while 26% felt the opposite.
• Vantiv Inc. announced that Tom Reichart, vice president of business development at Vantiv Integrated Payments, will be appointed the new chairman of the board for the Retail Solutions Providers Association at its RetailNOW annual conference July 31-Aug. 3.
• Processor Elavon, a unit of U.S. Bancorp, announced it is a preferred processing partner for ZirMed, a developer of health-care services technology.
• Shift4 Corp. said it and Spring-Miller Systems, a software provider for the hospitality industry, installed EMV-ready Ingenico Group point-of-sale terminals at Beaver Run Resort in Breckenridge, Colo.
• Restaurant point-of-sale provider Toast launched a self-service kiosk that allows customers to order meals and pay for them.
