  • Travel companies experienced a 71% growth in chargebacks in the past few years, according to the “Tackling the Travel Chargeback Challenge” report from Outpayce from Amadeus, a global travel company. The survey canvassed 46 airline and travel agent executives in the second quarter.
  • The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. started an industry forum to investigate how to best modernize EBT cards for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
  • Some two-thirds of hospitality companies plan to buy new payments technology within the next four years, according to a survey of 226 executives by payments provider FreedomPay and Cornell University’s Center for Hospitality Research.
  • Payments-technology fintech AppTech Payments Corp. said it has licensed four patents, and acquired an unspecified equity stake in, payments startup PayToMe.co.
  • RYVYL Inc., provider of a stablecoin platform, announced a pact between its European subsidiary, RYVYL EU, and Visa Inc. that will enable RYVYL EU’s customers to use the Visa Direct account-to-account service.
  • Jeffrey Campbell will step down as chief financial officer at American Express Co. effective Aug. 14 and will be succeeded by deputy CFO Christophe Le Caillec, the company said. Campbell, a former American Airlines CFO who has been AmEx’s CFO since 2013, is retiring from the company.
  • Jacqueline White has been appointed president of payments-technology provider i2c Inc., reporting to chief executive Amir Wain. White joins the company from Temenos, where she was president of the Americas region.
  • Visa Inc. extended the Visa Player of the Match athlete award, which is part of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, to support women-owned small businesses with $500,000 in total grants across 64 matches and potentially 32 qualifying countries.
