- Six U.S. Senators sent a letter to Rohit Chopra, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, asking the agency to initiate a review of buy now, pay later products with a view toward introducing consumer protections. All six Senators are Democratic members of the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs.
- Online gaming operator PointsBet has launched its mobile app and digital sports-betting platform in Virginia, the eighth state in which the company has introduced its products.
- A Transmit Security survey found that 85.3% of Gen Z consumers in the United States use a mobile phone to do some or all of their online shopping. It also found that 49.5% abandoned an online purchase because they forgot the password. Transmit Security, an authentication provider, canvassed 600 U.S. adults between 18 and 24 years old.
- A new Fiserv Inc. Expectations & Experiences consumer survey found that 68% of consumers have used a digital wallet in the past 12 months, compared to 58% in 2020 and 51% in 2019. The survey included data from 3,033 interviews.
- Fresha, an appointments and payments platform for salons and spas, announced a $52-million-plus addition to its recent $100-million Series C round led by General Atlantic, now valuing the company at more than $640 million. The extension was led by Michael Lahyani and BECO Capital.
- Nium launched its virtual card-issuing platform in the U.S. market, aimed at the travel industry.
- Payments company PPRO named Bernie Miles, a former Klarna AB and Wayfair executive, as its chief technology officer.
- Feedzai, a risk-management platform, announced it hired Elliott Limb as chief revenue officer, Patricia Marques Ferreira as general counsel, and Pedro Barata as chief product officer. It has also added Christian Smith as an independent board member.
