- Payment gateway Merchant Link said the Agilsys rGuest Pay v1.6 software for the hospitality industry is approved as a certified interface on Merchant Link’s network. Agilysis develops software for the hospitality industry.
- Payment gateway USAePay said the cash-discount program from Paradise POS, developer of iOS-based point-of-sale software, will be available to USAePay merchants.
- Point-of-sale software developer Lightspeed announced a service that incorporates Intuit QuickBooks Online and Planday, a worker management software tool, into an integrated iOS cloud-based POS system.
- Credit Key introduced Pay With Credit Key, a service that lets businesses buy online and then pay in monthly installments.
- Square Inc. obtained a so-called BitLicense from the New York State Department of Financial Services, the agency announced. The license allows Square to provide cryptocurrency trading services to state residents. Including Square, the agency has approved nine firms for virtual currency charters or licenses.
- Fleet-fueling payments specialist WEX Inc. launched DriverDash, a mobile application that lets drivers authorize a fuel transaction from inside their vehicles. The service is available at 11,000 Exxon and Mobil stations.
- Virtual Crypto Technologies Ltd., an Israeli company, announced an upgrade to its point-of-sale terminal for cryptocurrency transactions. The new device allows customers to initiate a transaction by scanning a quick-response code generated by a mobile app.
- Canada’s debit network Interac opened the Interac Lab, a research and development unit that offers space for hands-on experimentation.
- PayPal Holdings Inc. co-founders Peter Thiel and Max Levchin are among the backers of Brex Inc., a startup that plans to provide credit cards for venture-backed companies to cover startup expenses, Brex announced. Brex raised $57 million in a Series B funding round. The company already has more than 1,000 customers, it said.
- U.S. Bancorp said Elizabeth L. Buse, the former CEO of British mobile-banking and payments firm Monitise PLC and a 16-year veteran of Visa Inc., has joined its board of directors. The banking firm also elected Microsoft Corp. executive Yusuf I. Mehdi to its board.
