• The ATM Industry Association teamed up with media and conference firm Reconnaissance International to organize a series of international events under the “ATM & Cash Innovation” moniker.
• Vantiv Integrated Payments, a Vantiv Inc. company, began the next phase of its Security Pays program to encourage business owners to take concrete steps to protect their payment processing systems. Launched in 2015, the program now includes more than 1,000 Vantiv partners.
• Research firm IHS Inc. released its “Payment & Banking Cards Report-2016” that forecasts smart card shipments will grow from an estimated 2.5 billion units in 2015 to almost 3.4 billion in 2020, with the United States and China as key markets for this growth.
• A surging Bitcoin has neared the $600 price level, having risen about 30% in value since late May, according to Coindesk. Bitcoin’s closing price of $591 on June 4 was its highest value since August 2014 and comes as interest in the blockchain, its underlying technology, is on the rise.
• Certification provider UL said its UL Visa VIS Functional Test Suite received Visa Inc. certification.
