Vantiv’s E-Commerce Plans and other Digital Transactions News briefs

  • Merchant processor Vantiv Inc. said it is developing e-commerce payments and security extensions for the Magento 1 and Magento 2 platforms operated by Magento Commerce. Vantiv last week agreed to acquire U.K.-based processor Worldpay Group plc for $9.9 billion, in part to beef up its e-commerce business.
  • Florida-based merchant-service provider Fattmerchant said its flat-rate pricing model has saved Florida businesses $2.7 million, and businesses nationwide $8.6 million, on processing costs since the start of the year.
  • Restaurant consultancy TDn2K released “The Restaurant Industry Snapshot” that found same-store sales declined 1% in June, and in the second quarter. Average guest checks grew by 2.2% in both periods.
  • Payments provider Payscape announced a referral deal with Pelican State Credit Union.
  • Merchant processor Global Payments Inc. will establish a “Payment Innovation Hub” in Barcelona in partnership with CaixaBank, Visa, Samsung, and U.K. vehicle-leasing firm Arval.
  • After replacing its chief executive earlier this week, Stockholm-based mobile point-of-sale provider Seamless Distribution AB announced a newly organized management team, including James Connelley, a former General Electric and Santander executive, as head of its Seqr mobile wallet.
