• Visa Inc. unveiled a new interactive button for its Visa Checkout online and mobile commerce service that allows shoppers to complete an online purchase by sliding a virtual image of their credit, debit or prepaid card across the screen of a smart phone, tablet, or laptop.
• Visa will have its second annual “Everywhere Initiative” Saturday in Austin, Texas, where five startups will pitch digital-commerce ideas to a panel of judges; all of the proposals were designed using Visa’s application programming interfaces (APIs) on the new Visa Developer Platform. The winning startup will be awarded $25,000 to develop and execute a prototype or pilot of their idea.
• Remote deposit capture technology provider Cachet Financial Solutions Inc. said RDC transactions rose 48% to 1.97 million in the fourth quarter.
• Merchant processor Cayan appointed Chris Menard chief financial officer. Menard comes to Cayan with experience in financial roles with various technology companies.
• Mobile imaging software developer Mitek Systems Inc. appointed CEO James DeBello to the additional post of board chairman; DeBello will replace current chairman John M. Thornton, who is retiring after 30 years with Mitek.
