Visa+ P2P Service in Tests And Other Digital Transactions News briefs from 4/11/23

  • Visa Inc. announced a pilot for Visa+, a service that allows users to move payments between rival peer-to-peer payments networks. The pilot, set to launch later this year, will begin with transfers between PayPal and Venmo, a PayPal-owned network, but plans are to include P2P services DailyPay, i2c, TabaPay, and Western Union.
  • Mastercard Inc. launched Cross-Border Services Express, a tool intended to help financial institutions enable international payments for consumers and small and medium-size businesses.
  • Cantaloupe Inc., a specialist in payments at unattended locations, released its Seed Driver mobile app, technology intended to ease servicing of vending and micro-market locations for route drivers.
  • Recurring payments could grow to $15.4 trillion in transaction value by 2027 from $13.2 trillion in 2023, forecasted Juniper Research.
  • The urge to travel was seen in e-commerce sales in March with luggage sales up 36% from March 2022 and footwear sales up 23% for the same period, according to data from Signifyd, an e-commerce fraud prevention platform.
  • E-commerce payments provider Digital River said it is now offering the buy now, pay later options Afterpay and Clearpay. Afterpay is a unit of Block Inc.
  • Visa said Pam Murphy has been elected to its board of directors, effective Monday. Murphy is chief executive of cybersecurity software provider Imperva Inc., and previously served in executive roles at Infor Inc. and Oracle Corp.
