Waystar To Acquire Patientco and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 7/15/21

  • Waystar, a provider of payments software for the health-care industry, announced it will buy Patientco Holdings Inc., a payments provider in the same industry. Terms were not announced, though persons familiar with the matter valued Patientco at $450 million, according to Bloomberg.
  • Payments provider Payroc WorldAccess LLC said it has acquired DCS Holdings Group LLC, also known as ACHeck21, a provider of technology for automated clearing house and check-capture transactions. Terms were not announced.
  • Squirrel Systems launched the Squirrel Cloud POS, a point-of-sale system for restaurants that offers online ordering, takeout, third-party delivery, and curbside pickup.
  • Payments provider Fortis Payment Systems LLC named Greg Cohen chief executive officer. Cohen has been serving as the company’s executive chairman. The company also named Dennis McLaughlin chief financial officer and Ashley Usher chief integration and information officer.
  • SupportPay, an app that lets parents living apart to exchange payments related to child care, announced it has redesigned its Web site and app.
  • Square Inc. acquired Crew, a messaging platform for hourly employees. The utility will be integrated with Square’s other services for small businesses. Terms were not announced.
  • Billtrust Inc. announced Kone Inc., a company specializing in elevators and escalators, has adopted Billtrust’s invoicing platform and business-payments network in Canada, which will enable electronic invoicing and digital-payments acceptance for Kone.
  • Play2Pay Inc., a mobile-payments startup that lets users reduce their bills by playing games or watching videos, announced a $13-million Series A funding round led by Telesoft Partners.
  • A technology startup called Cut+Dry announced nationwide availability of an app that lets restaurants order products from suppliers and pay any business.
