Financial and marketing services company Mozido Inc. now is serving China through its acquisition of PayEase Corp., a China-based payment processor.
Announced today, the acquisition makes Austin, Texas-based Mozido the owner of one of 22 licensed payment-processing companies in China. PayEase, which is headquarter in Beijing, provides in-app mobile payments, online payments, Internet banking, call-center payments, and mobile point-of-sale terminals.
Among PayEase clients are Amazon.com Inc., Apple Inc., Burberry, and H&M.
“This acquisition will allow PayEase to extend our international foothold and service offering. More significantly, merchants and users in China could now access Mozido’s payment solution throughout the world, making Mozido a truly global payments player,” said Kino Kwok, General Manager and COO of PayEase, in a press release.
Mozido did not disclose the purchase price.
Mozido has been willing to open its coffers wide lately. More directly regarding mobile payments, Mozido last week made a $2.5 million investment in SimplyTapp, a developer of host card emulation software used for a type of near-field communications (NFC) payments that bypasses the secure element in mobile devices.
SimplyTapp says, with the Mozido contribution, it has raised $10.1 million in this funding round, and intends to use it to increase its research and development efforts.
