X9 Issues QR Code Standard and other Digital Transactions News briefs from 1/7/25

  • The Accredited Standards Committee X9 Inc. has published a standard, “QR Code Protection Using Cryptographic Solutions, X9.148,” laying out how to create secure QR codes.
  • Nuvei Corp. announced it will provide payments processing in a partnership with GIG, a technology company specializing in the iGaming business.
  • Paysafe Ltd. has won approval from the Central Bank of Brazil for a payment institution license, allowing the processor to operate regulated online sports betting in that country.
  • Point-of-sale technology provider Ingenico introduced Ingenico Signals 2025, a paper examining trends in payments technology and payments.
  • Regions Bank has selected Axway to support the bank’s efforts in open banking. Axway is the developer of the Amplify Open Banking platform. 
  • NICE Actimize has co-published “Guide to Investigating Human Trafficking in Financial Crime,” aimed at helping financial institutions. The guide is exclusively available to members of the Knoble Network, made up of financial-service professionals, law enforcement, and others.
  • Chargeback Gurus, a developer of technology for chargeback management, released two products for chargeback prevention, Enhanced Analytics and Enhanced Smart Prevention Alerts.
  • Finastra, a software provider for payments and other financial services, announced Chris Walters is its new chief executive, succeeding Simon Paris, who will stay on “to ensure a smooth handover,” the company said. Walters most recently held the CEO position at Avantax.
  • Payments-technology provider Opus Technologies has appointed Srini Rajamani chief executive officer, succeeding Praveen TM, who is expected to stay on as a member of the company’s leadership group. Rajamani formerly held senior executive roles at Wipro Ltd.
  • ICBA Payments, a subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America, named Rebecca Kruse president. She retains the chief operating officer title. Kruse joined ICBA Payments in 2019. It also named Juan Costantini executive vice president and general counsel. He most recently was chief legal officer at MVB Bank.
